In the days when America was young and church membership was low, a man of God named Peter Miller lived in Pennsylvania. Peter was well- educated, skilled in many languages, and a devoted follower of Christ.
One of his neighbors in the American Army was in trouble. As a soldier he had committed a crime and was up for trial by a court-martial. General George Washington, who later became the president of the United States, was the presiding Judge.
When Peter heard of this, he waded through snow for 60 miles and pleaded that the General extend mercy to his neighbor. The General was moved by the plea and said, “I’ll see what I can do for your friend.” Peter Miller replied, “Oh, he is not my friend; he’s my worst enemy.” That is the way of love.
God loves us far more than Peter loved his neighbor. The God who gave Peter love can also find a way to repair our broken relationships with Him.
God wants to save us. He wants to free us from sin. How can He show just how much He loves us?
Every man, woman and every child has a need for Salvation.
God doesn’t grade our lives by how well we do in relation to others. He doesn’t compare us to anyone else.
In Romans 1:18-32, Paul writes about the many terrible sins that people are guilty of. Paul says that God is incredibly angry at evil men who know what is right but choose evil.
“Well,” you may be thinking, “I’m glad I’m not like that. They need salvation, but I don’t need that I will just try to live right.” Paul doesn’t stop with these verses. He goes on in Romans 2: 1-16 to say that each of us is just as bad as the other. God knows everything about us. God knows things we wouldn’t think of telling our best friend.
Romans 3:23
22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference.
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
God knows each one of us needs salvation. No one can measure up to God’s standards without help.
The Solution is God’s Son, Jesus Christ the only way to receive salvation.
